Course Overview

The Home Health Aide (HHA) course equips students to work as home aides, providing basic nursing and personal care to patients, elderly individuals, and people with disabilities. HHAs are also trained to support nurses and other healthcare professionals. This training ensures that HHAs are skilled in maintaining the comfort and safety of patients. The curriculum emphasizes the importance of compassion, attention to detail, and a thorough understanding of patient needs. By the end of the course, students are well-prepared to offer high-quality care and support in various home health settings.

The Duties of Home Health Aide

  • Perform essential human services for patients, including checking vital signs and administering prescribed medications.
  • Assist with general light housekeeping.
  • Arrange transportation as needed.
  • Collaborate with nurses, personal care aides, CNAs, nurse assistants, nursing aides, and other in-home care professionals.
  • Observe and report on patient conditions.
  • Maintain ongoing in-service training.
  • Provide basic personal care, especially for elderly and paralyzed patients in home settings.
  • Offer personal care such as bathing, dressing, and grooming patients.
  • Monitor and report changes in patients’ health status.
  • Assist patients with daily tasks and prescribed exercises.
  • Ensure timely administration of prescribed medications.
